Photography for Social Media
As a professional photographer, how many times have you struggled to promote and sell your work outside your local area? Have you tried to use Facebook or Twitter to promote yourself?
Probably you’ve already asked those questions before and tried it but without remarkable results. Using social media to promote yourself and your business can be tricky but not impossible, it only involve knowing “who is your target market” and becoming a “good story teller”.
How to improve sells and attract more customers trough Social Media?
The beauty of using social media as a marketing tool is that it can connect you with more potential customers and create brand awareness between your clients. Another important benefit is that you can share information with other photographers, clients and photo aficionados such as: ideas, tips, feedback and inspiration. Also, social sites allow you to display your work, edit it, share and even, add information and descriptions to it. These tools help promote and focus the quality of your clients.
Two common mistakes of Using Social Media as a marketing tool
Social Media can be a powerful tool to boost your business, but just if it used correctly. Most of us are not aware that mixing your personal account (family, friends, etc) with your professional account (clients, followers, etc) may decrees the popularity and success of your business by creating confusion and barriers for potential clients. Also, sites like Facebook, has a limit of 5,000 followers (personal “friends” limit) per account.
Another common mistake is to use the wrong Social Site and attract the wrong public. Out there are several different social sites and those sites are uses by different people and business, for example, people will be more likely to use Facebook to communicate with their friends while, twitter (related to businesses) connects businesses to customers in real-time.
Become a good story teller
Narrating your experiences and sharing what happened during a photo-shooting or including the challenges presented while taking pictures are good tools to attract the attention of the people and turn them into followers who will be more likely to ask for your services and buy your work. People like stories and even more be part of them.
