The logo creation process is a complex & must be well thought-out so it can effectively convey its intended message. A logo should be industry & business appropriate as well as memorable & striking. The actual logo design should be versatile & be able to be used across a variety of mediums & applications. What is a Logo Portfolio?

A logo portfolio serves the function of having a company’s logo ready-made in many various formats, orientations, resolutions, versions, & treatments.

Formats – All logos should be 600 DPI in both the CMYK format for high quality print or video usage as well as the RGB format from which to make your web images.

Orientations – You will find need of both landscape (horizontal) & portrait (vertical or square) variations of any logo versions. The dimensions of these images should be based on the industry standardized Internet size dimensions. It’s recommended that all images be 600 pixels tall, with square images as 600 x 600 & landscape images at 1,700 x 600 so that they can also reduce down perfectly to the 88 x 31 micro-button.

Resolution – It’s recommended that you have all your logos produced at 600 dpi so that any artwork can work in the most demanding uses.

Versions – Versions of your logos should exist including just the logo, logo with slogan, logo with URL, “partner” or “event” versions of the logo, flush left for website headers, centered for letterhead, an icon, a favicon for your website’s bookmark symbol, and more.

 Treatments – It’s recommended that you have 2D & 3D logo version, especially with the emergence and search engine rank benefits of video for websites.
